This one if for ~mutequacky and ~AlienDragonLover. :D

Started as a render test of the mesh, which was a test of the object output generator I added to this project. This object contains 12.3 million (quad) polygons. :faint:

Overall construct is a quaternion Julia fractal (again ) and then a level 3 Menger sponge (probably easier to see in the full image).

Rendering was done with my own software render. Both the ground and fractal have Fresnel effect and some subsurface scattering, the ground also contains a light emitting substance. The sun is near the horizon and a bit towards to the camera to cast some light along the sides of the object.

Enjoy. :)

Edit:

*In a Keanu Reeves voice* Woah. A DD?! :omg:

A huuuge thank you to *PutYourBraveFaceOn and ^SaTaNiA. :glomp:

And thank you in advance for comments and favourites.

If you have not already seen them, *PutYourBraveFaceOn has several worthwhile projects like (for instance) the Think about it.

Featured here by #ForeverArtGroup, a ton of great art there so check the journal and group out. :D

Suggester words : " A truly fascinating combination of patterns and of opposites which reminds me of the idea that if we stop destroying and we start rebuilding ( exactly like in this fractal: block by block, step by step ), this world might still have a chance." ( Suggested by PutYourBraveFaceOn and Featured by SaTaNiA )

If minecraft were real, People would be doing this every hour!

This though, is incredible! It's very realistic, and gives me that sense of dangerous heights. The blue, though mirroring, looks to me like a darker, lower section, leading back down to the surface world, whereas the above is as high up in the sky as the creators intended to go...

I that deep?

You are on to something, for sure. The blue surface started as a water material, so the reflection could very well have been the continuation of the structure below (deep indeed ;p). :D
